Councilors out of control

To the Ipswich Community,

Today’s council meeting was nothing short of a disgrace. The actions of certain councilors, particularly the six who continuously embarrass our community, have shown a blatant disregard for transparency, integrity, and their duties to the very people who put them in office.

It’s beyond belief that a motion to silence the Mayor was even tabled in the first place, and when questioned about it, Mr. Tully completely ignored his oath to serve with honesty and accountability. His actions today show utter contempt for the people of Ipswich. How these councilors think they can continue to act with impunity is beyond me.

The truth is, we deserve answers. Why was this motion tabled? Why the secrecy? I believe it’s clear that Cr. Jonic and Cr. Madsen are facing potential repercussions with the Integrity Committee, and perhaps thats why he held the gag motion as they could not have a say today makes you think. The question is, why should the rest of us pay the price for their actions?

To the other councilors—some of whom I believed had more sense—your actions have proven otherwise. I watched you block any measure that would support the Mayor and witnessed the backlash that followed. It’s clear that you’ve learned nothing.

I am drafting a formal complaint to the Integrity Unit and the ACCC, and I will gather every piece of evidence from the last 12 months to expose this corrupt behavior. We cannot allow these councilors to continue undermining our trust and attacking the very principles of democracy that should guide them. This is not just about one motion; this is about systemic failure, and we need to stand up.

We voted for our Mayor and our councilors in good faith, and this is the repayment we get? No. We will not let this go on any longer. We will demand accountability, and we will call for the removal of these councilors if necessary. This is not just a political issue—it’s a matter of integrity, transparency, and respect for the people of Ipswich.

Let’s show these councilors that we will not sit idly by while they continue to run rough shot over our city. We deserve better, and together, we will make sure our voices are heard.

We will stand united to protect our community. It's time to hold these individuals accountable and send them packing.
